This Technical Rescue Protective Ensemble Garment Element meets the requirements of NFPA 1951, Standard on Protective Ensembles for Technical Rescue Incidents, 2020 Edition
This provides important information regarding the use, care, and maintenance of your flame-resistant garment
Safety Considerations and Limitations of Use:
This protective garment is designed for Technical Rescue Incident Operations only. The proper equipment should be used in combination with your protective garments for Technical Rescue Incident operations. For other fire fighting operations, protective clothing and equipment appropriate for the type of fire fighting operation must be worn. No protective garments can provide complete protection from all conditions; use extreme care for all emergency operations
Marking Recommendations & Restrictions:
Any additional labeling, emblems, trim or heraldry added to this garment by the distributor or end user should meet the requirements of NFPA 1975. Failure to comply with the NFPA standard will invalidate the Bulwark warranty. Clothing may be marked with an individual’s name, department, etc. using an indelible laundry marker. Separate laundry labels should be attached for this purpose. DO NOT REMOVE AND DO NOT MARK on the safety or cleaning labels on any protective garments.
Garment Marking Recommendation and Restrictions
Any lettering, trim, emblems, or nametags, etc. added to the garment must meet the performance requirements of the NFPA 1951 standard. Failure to comply with the NFPA 1951 standard will invalidate the manufacturer’s warranty. The performance characteristics of the garments cannot be tested by the user in the field.
Performance Properties:
Most performance properties of this garment cannot be tested by the user in the field.
Manufacturer’s Warranty:
The manufacturer warrants that all garments will be free from workmanship defects resulting from normal wear within one year of purchase for garments laundered per our instructions. The manufacturer will determine whether a returned garment is to be repaired or replaced. Apparel color shifting or fading is excluded.
Inspection Frequency & Details:
Each department should establish its own criteria for routine inspection and subsequent repair or retirement of the protective clothing.
Don/Doff Procedures:
Donning
Tops: Depending on the style of the shirt, pull it over your head or put your arms through the sleeves and secure all fasteners.
Bottoms: Pull pants up above hips and secure all fasteners.
For effective protection, technical rescue incident garments should be worn as an outer most garment with sleeves rolled down and tabs engaged on the cuffs of shirts and pants. A 100% cotton or flame-resistant T-shirt should be worn under the garment.
Doffing
Follow the donning procedure in reverse to remove garments.

Recommended Storage Practices:
DO Not store protective clothing in direct light. These fabrics can be degraded by exposure to natural or fluorescent light and must be protected, either by storing in a shaded area or by covering with a dark cloth.
Interface Issues:
Ensure that safety equipment interfaces properly with protective clothing so that the protective layers overlap and not allow any gaps in protection to the wearer.
Proper use consistent with 29 CFR 1910.132, “Personal Protective Equipment”:
Protective clothing shall be provided, used, and maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition where it is necessary by reason of hazards of processes or environment, chemical hazards, radiological hazards, or mechanical irritants encountered in a manner capable of causing injury or impairment in the function of any part of the body through absorption, inhalation or physical contact.
Maintenance and Cleaning:
LAUNDERING INSTRUCTIONS:
Machine wash garments in hot water according to the instructions on the garment label. DO NOT USE BLEACH. Wash separately from flammable, lint-producing fabrics. Rinse thoroughly; soap or detergent residue can burn. Tumble dry medium. Remove garment promptly.
CAUTION: Do not use garments that are not thoroughly cleaned and dried.
SERVICE LIFE AND RETIREMENT OF GARMENTS:
The useful service life of your garment depends on the work environment, frequency of use, and proper maintenance and cleaning of the garments. Any garment showing signs of physical destruction or degradation of the fabric, seams or closures should be repaired or discarded. Small tears to the fabric can be repaired in the field using compliant material and thread.
For maximum thermal protection, contaminants such as greases and oils should be thoroughly removed from the garments. The garments should be removed from service after significant exposure to flame or heat.
DECONTAMINATION PROCEDURES:
The process of decontamination is dependent upon what the protective clothing has been exposed to; however, chlorine bleach should not be used as a cleaning agent under any circumstances.
If specific chemical or biological contamination should occur, users should seek the advice of a specialist regarding proper decontamination procedures.
WARNINGS:
If the user fails to read and understand ALL the warnings regarding how to properly wear the garment, care for the garment, and maintain the garment, serious bodily injury or death could occur.
This garment does not contain a liquid barrier layer, and therefore, does not afford protection against blood borne pathogens or liquid chemicals.
